Bobbie Levindofske

Bobbie Levindofske grew up in Iowa, and has also lived in North Dakota, Kansas, and California.  She served in the Navy, and then attended Iowa State University where she earned her BA in Anthropology.  While living in Kansas, she worked for the National Guard where she operated a family assistance center for military personnel and their families, and later became a deployment and reintegration cycle support specialist.  She also has years of experience working for non-profit organizations.

Bobbie’s first experience with yoga was 9 years ago when she bought a yoga DVD and a yoga mat.  In the privacy of her living room, she struggled through the poses for the first time, and became frustrated…until it came time for savasana.  It was the first time in her life that she recalls ever being encouraged to enter a meditative state.  She slowed down, focused on her breath, and had a breakthrough.  After the physical workout from the poses she realized her body was more calm and relaxed than she had ever felt, and it was at that moment she fell in love with yoga.  She studies Baptiste Power Yoga under Jan Atkins, and enjoys both the physicality of the vinyasa as well as the inner calm and centeredness it creates in its practitioners.

Now pursuing her master’s degree in Clinical Social Work, Bobbie is combining the principles of counseling and the benefits of yoga.  She believes that yoga is integral to helping people become well in a counseling and social services setting, just as it is integral in every day life.  As she puts it “The mind and the body and the spirit all support one another, so it is essential that we encourage betterment of all three aspects of a person’s life to make them whole and live their best life.  Yoga is a powerful tool in helping a person achieve the level of mindfulness needed to create a proactive life, rather than a reactive one.”

A recent newlywed, Bobbie and her husband enjoy riding on their motorcycle, traveling, cooking, running in 5k and 10k races, and taking their three dogs for long walks.  She also enjoys reading non-fiction, gardening, interior design, and is currently learning to sew.
